Melbury Vale was bought in December 2003, by brother and sister, Glynn and Clare, as 28 acres of derelict and dilapidated farmland and buildings, formerly part of Barfoot Farm, near to Melbury Mill and Cann Mill.
They have lovingly converted the buildings and restored the land to good management with much determination, hard work, help and support from friends and family, to make it the varied and thriving rural business that it is today.

Clare and Glynn now run the overall business, that has evolved in recent years, with Glynns fiancee Sarah and Clares husband Joseph. This includes a holiday-let in a converted stable, (For availability see www.holidaycottages.co.uk/dorset/melbury-vale-cottage ) English native woodland, DIY livery, Christmas tree plantation, Alpaca herd and the Melbury Vale Vineyard and cider orchard.
The on-site winery was completed and in production for 2013. It is built into the hillside with a number of sustainable design features; including wild flower meadow roof and rain water harvesting. Enquiries for new vineyards to be planted in the area are now rolling in, with over 3,000 new vines already planted locally in response to the winery appearing.
